A key panel discussion on "Raw Materials as the Foundation of the Energy Transition: New Horizons for Investment" was held during the first session of the International Conference "Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan-2025" (OGT-2025).

Session participants noted the continued key role of hydrocarbons and petrochemical raw materials in the global energy transition.

As emphasized in his speech by Guvanch Agajanov, Chairman of the State Concern “Turkmennebit”, Turkmenistan, with hydrocarbon reserves exceeding 71 billion tons of oil equivalent, maintains its status as a key supplier of strategic raw materials.

Particular attention was paid to successes in international cooperation. In particular, the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding for geological exploration on Blocks 11, 12, 16, 21, and 23 in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea between Turkmennebit State Concern and PETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd, which took place during the TEIF 2025 forum in Kuala Lumpur, was mentioned.

The discussion presented the latest geological data, promising investment projects, and Turkmenistan's strategy for reducing methane emissions, including innovations in its utilization as fuel and feedstock, as well as plans for infrastructure expansion.

The conference will continue tomorrow.
