During his visit to Afghanistan on October 20, National Leader of the Turkmen People and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty (People's Council), Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, met with Abdul Ghani Baradar, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Afghanistan for Economic Affairs, TDH reports.

Abdul Ghani Baradar emphasized that Afghanistan highly values its friendly ties with Turkmenistan, which pursues a foreign policy based on the principles of positive neutrality.

Noting that the Turkmen and Afghan peoples are united by traditions of brotherhood and mutual respect, as well as shared spiritual and cultural values, Hero Arkadag noted the consistent strengthening of bilateral relations based on bonds of friendship and good-neighborliness. As emphasized during the meeting, Turkmenistan and Afghanistan maintain cooperation in trade, economics, fuel and energy, and transport and communications. The favorable geographic location of both countries is of great importance in the context of the creation of transport and transit corridors in the region.

Today, Turkmenistan and Afghanistan are participating in the joint implementation of major projects in energy, transport, and communications. These include the construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline, as well as power transmission lines and fiber-optic communication lines along the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan route.

In this context, Hero-Arkadag expressed confidence that these projects will serve as a reliable foundation for strengthening long-term fraternal relations between Turkmenistan and Afghanistan. An example of this is the current ceremonial event associated with the construction of the Serhetabat-Herat gas pipeline, known as "Arkadagyň ak ýoly”. Emphasizing that such large-scale projects, by uniting the two countries, will serve as a bridge of friendship and brotherhood between peoples, Hero Arkadag expressed confidence that they will create significant conditions for the further development of the two countries' economies and will contribute to improving the well-being of the fraternal Afghan people by providing them with new jobs.

The Deputy Prime Minister of the fraternal country, noting that having such a peace-loving neighbor as Turkmenistan is strategically significant for Afghanistan, expressed sincere gratitude to Hero Arkadag and President Serdar Berdimuhamedov for their ongoing support to the Afghan people.

Abdul Ghani Baradar also once again thanked the Turkmen side for the regular humanitarian aid it sends to Afghanistan. At the end of the meeting, noting that joint work on the further development of relations between Turkmenistan and Afghanistan in various areas will continue, Hero-Arkadag expressed his best wishes to Abdul Ghani Baradar and the fraternal Afghan people.
