During a working visit to China on September 2, the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with the Chairman of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping, where they discussed prospects for cooperation in the gas sector, TDH reports.

As was noted during the meeting held in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, the gas industry is a strategic area of bilateral economic cooperation. This is confirmed by the Turkmenistan-China gas pipeline, which has been successfully operating for more than fifteen years.

It was emphasized that both countries are currently working to expand cooperation in the gas sector, and specific results are being achieved in this direction. Serdar Berdimuhamedov reported that the Chinese side won an international tender for the development of the 4th stage of the large gas field "Galkynysh", congratulating Chairman Xi Jinping on this event.

Serdar Berdimuhamedov also noted that a draft General Agreement on the Basic Principles of Gas Cooperation between Turkmenistan and China has been prepared, emphasizing that this partnership will further develop on the basis of this document.

Xi Jinping, noting that cooperation with Turkmenistan in such an important area is a great honor for China, thanked the Turkmen side for the conditions and support provided for the activities of Chinese partners in the gas sector.

In this context, the Chairman of the PRC noted that the necessary work is currently being carried out to implement the bilateral agreement reached in the field of natural gas.
