Turkmenistan, China accelerate launch of Lu Ban Workshop at Ashgabat Petroleum University

Yagshigeldi Kakayev International University of Oil and Gas, Hebei Petroleum Vocational and Technical University and Xi'an Shiyou University held a joint video conference to accelerate the implementation of the Lu Ban Workshop project in Turkmenistan, Orient reported on August 24.
Representatives of the three universities discussed in detail all aspects of the project development, including the procurement, transportation and customs clearance of equipment. The meeting also agreed on a work plan for the second half of 2025. The parties agreed to accelerate the process to complete the creation of the laboratory by September and officially open the Workshop by the end of the year.
Rector of Kakayev International University of Oil and Gas Bayrammyrat Atamanov expressed gratitude to the Chinese partners for their strong support. In turn, Vice-Rector of Hebei Petroleum Vocational and Technical University Ma Xiancai confirmed that both Chinese universities have already purchased the first batch of equipment and are currently taking inventory and preparing it for shipment.
During the meeting, experts from Turkmenistan and China held detailed discussions on the reconstruction of the Geological Resources Exploration Laboratory and the Modern Information Technology Laboratory. Issues related to the free transfer of equipment, as well as plans to create a Joint Laboratory "One Belt, One Road" were discussed. In accordance with the signed memorandum, the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) will also participate in the project, which emphasizes the integration of education with production.
"Luban Workshop" is an international project in the field of vocational education initiated by the Chinese government. Its goal is to promote the development of human resources in partner countries by providing high-quality vocational education. The project is named after the ancient Chinese master craftsman Lu Ban, who is considered a symbol of skilled craftsmanship. The "workshops" are intended to become a bridge for cultural and educational exchange, facilitating the transfer of technology and the training of highly qualified specialists capable of working with modern equipment. The opening of such a center in Turkmenistan is of great importance, as it contributes to the modernization of the higher education system, the introduction of advanced technologies and the training of personnel in demand in modern conditions.
