Priority areas of interstate cooperation were discussed on July 25 at a meeting between President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the new Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Turkmenistan Ji Shumin, TDH reports.

The diplomat noted that China attaches great importance to the development of strategic cooperation with Turkmenistan.

The head of the Turkmen state emphasized that the People's Republic of China is one of the most important strategic partners for Turkmenistan.

- We attach great importance to the further expansion of interstate dialogue at all levels, - said Serdar Berdimuhamedov. At the same time, the President noted that in recent years, the partnership between Turkmenistan and China has reached a qualitatively new level, as evidenced by mutual visits, intergovernmental negotiations and consultations on various aspects of bilateral cooperation.

In this regard, Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the importance of the meeting with the Chairman of the People's Republic of China on the sidelines of the Second Central Asia-China Summit in Astana, during which the commitment of both countries to deepening cooperation and implementing the agreements reached was confirmed.

As noted during the current meeting, the priority area of interstate relations is the economic sphere. China has been the main trade, economic and investment partner of Turkmenistan for many years.

It was emphasized that the large Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan-China gas pipeline is an example of an effective mutually beneficial partnership in the fuel and energy sector, defined as a key vector of economic cooperation between the two countries.

Turkmenistan also advocates further coordination of its strategy "Revival of the Great Silk Road" and China's related initiative "One Belt, One Road".

During the meeting, Ambassador Ji Shumin presented his credentials to the head of Turkmenistan.
