Turkmenistan Ambassador to Russia Esen Aydogdyev held a meeting in Moscow with Afghan Ambassador Mawlawi Gul Hassan Hassan, during which they discussed issues of expanding bilateral cooperation in various fields, the International Information Center of Turkmenistan reported on July 24 (https://turkmenistaninfo.gov.tm/news/13320)

The diplomats emphasized the historically strong ties between the two countries and expressed mutual interest in strengthening the partnership. Particular attention was paid to specific steps to expand bilateral cooperation in various fields.

The meeting is especially important given that Russia was the first to officially recognize the Taliban movement in Afghanistan. Today, many Asian countries are intensifying diplomatic contacts with Afghanistan.

Turkmenistan has long taken an active position regarding Afghanistan, consistently involving it in large-scale regional infrastructure projects. These include the construction of the TAPI gas pipeline, the TAP power transmission and fiber-optic communication lines aimed at improving the energy and digital infrastructure, and railway routes that open up new trade and transport opportunities for Afghanistan.

These projects are not only economically beneficial, but also contribute to the creation of jobs, economic development, and strengthening regional ties.

The meeting in Moscow confirmed Turkmenistan's unwavering commitment to supporting peace, stability, and development in Afghanistan through pragmatic and mutually beneficial cooperation.
