Turkmenistan strengthens cooperation with the EU in transport, energy and trade

Turkmenistan has confirmed its interest in actively implementing joint projects with the European Union. This became known after the meeting of the Regional Director of the Directorate-General for International Partnerships of the European Commission Peteris Ustups with the ambassadors of the Central Asian countries accredited to the EU, which took place in Brussels, according to the website of the International Information Center of Turkmenistan (https://turkmenistaninfo.gov.tm/news/13069).
Ambassador of Turkmenistan Sapar Palvanov emphasized the country's desire to develop transport, trade and energy ties with the European Union. This is aimed at strengthening mutually beneficial partnership and unlocking the full potential of the region.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the results of the first Central Asia-EU summit and preparations for the upcoming Investment and Economic Forums scheduled for late November 2025. These forums are expected to become a key platform for promoting specific initiatives. The focus will be on international transport corridors, cooperation in the field of critical raw materials, as well as projects in the field of green energy and sustainable development.
The meeting participants also paid attention to expanding cooperation with the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
Earlier, Turkmenistan and the EIB have already expressed their readiness to intensify interaction in the preparation of specific investment projects and the development of relevant memorandums of cooperation.

In the Balkan region, a key region in the oil and gas sector of Turkmenistan, it is planned to increase natural gas production to 11 billion cubic meters per year by 2025.
