Interregional economic cooperation issues discussed at international conference in Ashgabat

On March 19, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan hosted an international conference entitled “International Year of Peace and Trust: the role of interregional economic cooperation in ensuring sustainable development”, TDH reports.

The conference was attended by the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, which further increased the importance of this forum, held in the International Year of Peace and Trust, which marks the 30th anniversary of our country's permanent neutrality.

The event was attended by the Chairman of the Mejlis of the country, Vice-Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers, heads and representatives of ministries and departments, public organizations, mass media, government agencies and large companies of the UAE, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Oman, international organizations and financial institutions, diplomatic missions in Turkmenistan.

During the conference, a congratulatory message from the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov was read out, in which the head of state emphasized the importance of this event for ensuring economic stability in the regions of Central and South Asia, the effective implementation of energy, transport and logistics projects, as well as increasing investment opportunities.

The President of Turkmenistan expressed confidence that the conference would become an important platform for exchanging experience in ensuring sustainable development of all sectors of the region's economies, introducing modern innovations and discussing investment opportunities.

The main topics of discussion were issues of interregional economic cooperation, which is of strategic importance for ensuring sustainable development. The forum participants considered the prospects for joint projects in such areas as trade, energy, transport and ecology.

Particular attention was paid to the creation of a modern system of sustainable transport and communication corridors and energy security, which is a priority for Turkmenistan in the context of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
