The President approved the draft Program for strengthening international cooperation of Turkmenistan in the field of renewable energy sources until 2030

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov approved the drafts of the Program for Strengthening International Cooperation of Turkmenistan in the Field of Renewable Energy Sources for 2025–2030 and a set of measures for its implementation, TDH reports .
The drafts of these documents were presented to the head of state by Vice-Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov at a government meeting on March 14.
As the Vice-Chairman noted, Under the leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, comprehensive work is being carried out to implement the provisions of the Law of Turkmenistan "On Renewable Energy Sources" and the "National Strategy of Turkmenistan for the Development of Renewable Energy until 2030". At the same time, the country is successfully fulfilling its obligations under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Paris Agreement on Climate Change.
In this regard, drafts of the Program for Strengthening International Cooperation of Turkmenistan in the Field of Renewable Energy Sources for 2025–2030 and a set of measures for its implementation have been prepared, R. Meredov noted.
This work was carried out jointly with the relevant ministries and industry departments and interested foreign partners. In particular, interaction was carried out with specialists from the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), the Secretariat of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, the UN Environment Programme, UNDP, the UN Industrial Development Organization, the Global Environment Facility, as well as the Regional Environmental Center for Central Asia, and the Asian Development Bank.
The prepared Program provides for the establishment and intensification of cooperation in this area with authoritative international organizations and financial institutions, research centers, leading countries of the world and foreign companies.
After hearing the report, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that Turkmenistan pays great attention to the development of renewable energy sources. There are also favorable conditions for the use of solar and wind energy.
Having emphasized the importance of increasing cooperation with international organizations in this area, the head of state approved the proposal and gave the Vice-Chairman and Minister of Foreign Affairs the relevant instructions.
