A meeting between Turkmenistan Energy Minister Annageldi Saparov and Uzbekistan Energy Minister Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov was held within the framework of the 29th International Conference and Exhibition «OGT 2024» that started today in Ashgabat, the News Portal of the State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company of Turkmenistan reported on October 23.
During the meeting, held in the building of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan, issues of bilateral cooperation in the field of energy were discussed, including joint projects and opportunities for developing mutually beneficial initiatives. The ministers emphasized the importance of strengthening ties between the two countries, given their significant potential in the field of hydrocarbon resources.
Saparov and Mirzamakhmudov discussed current areas of cooperation, including natural gas supplies, the development of renewable energy sources and innovative technologies. Both sides expressed their intention to continue the dialogue and seek new ways to improve the efficiency and sustainability of energy systems.
This meeting was an important step towards deepening the strategic partnership between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan in the energy sector, which will contribute to the stable development of the economies of both countries and ensure energy security in the region.
The Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov arrived in Ashgabat to participate in the OGT-2024 Forum. He will be one of the speakers at the session “New Trends in the Global Energy Market and Prospects for Mutually Beneficial Cooperation”. Within the framework of this session, an overview of the trends in the global energy market will be conducted, as well as the strategic role of Turkmenistan in it will be determined. Issues of international cooperation in this area will also be discussed.
Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan are long-standing trade and economic partners who successfully cooperate in the energy and oil and gas industries. The Turkmenistan-China international gas pipeline runs through the territory of Uzbekistan. The neighboring republic is also a stable buyer of Turkmen electricity.
Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan have bilateral agreements defining key vectors of energy partnership.
