Turkmen-Tajik intergovernmental commission identified fuel and energy complex, transport, agro-industrial complex as promising areas of cooperation

The energy sector, transport and logistics, agriculture, and industrial complex have been identified as promising areas of the Turkmen-Tajik partnership. This was announced during the 13th meeting of the intergovernmental commission on trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation, held in Ashgabat on October 16, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reports.

The agenda of the meeting of the Joint Commission included priority issues of cooperation in the trade and economic sphere. The promising areas of bilateral partnership include the energy sector, transport and logistics, agriculture, and industrial complex, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted.

A delegation of Tajikistan headed by Deputy Prime Minister of the country Sulaiman Ziyozoda arrived in Ashgabat to participate in the meeting.  The Turkmen delegation was headed by Vice-Chairman Tangryguly Atahalliyev.

The meeting participants also spoke in favor of developing new forms of developing economic cooperation on a long-term basis. In light of modern realities, strengthening cooperation in the scientific and technical sphere, in the field of introducing advanced technologies and innovations, is of particular relevance, the Foreign Ministry notes.

During the meeting, the parties also discussed the progress of implementing the agreements reached at the 12th meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission, held in Dushanbe in 2023. At the same time, the parties exchanged views on the state and prospects of bilateral relations and emphasized the need for strict implementation of all agreements reached.

Following the meeting, a corresponding Protocol was signed.
