The Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan and the Prime Minister of Pakistan discussed preparations for the implementation of energy projects

The completion of the preparation of documents for the implementation of major projects in the energy sector was discussed in Islamabad by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and the Prime Minister of Pakistan Shahbaz Sharif, the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan reports.

At the meeting, special attention was paid to the need to intensify joint actions to implement large-scale and long-term international economic projects in which both countries are participants.

In particular, the relevance of finalizing the work on the preparation of bilateral documents concerning the practical implementation of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline projects, and the high-voltage power transmission line along the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP) route was emphasized, the Foreign Ministry notes.

The importance of joint activities in the transport and logistics sector was also noted, where the Turkmen side currently cooperates with large Pakistani companies, among which the National Logistics Corporation (NLC) occupies a special place, a partnership with which will significantly increase the volume of transportation along the China-Pakistan-Afghanistan-Turkmenistan route with access to the Central Asian and Caspian regions.

The parties also discussed other issues of cooperation of mutual interest.

Having considered a wide range of issues of the Turkmen-Pakistani partnership, the parties specified its priority areas, confirming their readiness to continue to build up interstate cooperation in the political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural, humanitarian and other areas, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The delegation of Turkmenistan is in Pakistan to participate as an honorary guest in the next meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
