Speaking in Ashgabat at the International Forum "Interconnection of Times and Civilizations - the Basis of Peace and Development", President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that the great, rich in content legacy of the poet and thinker Magtymguly Fragi predetermined the basis of Turkmenistan's foreign policy.

"The great, rich in content legacy of Magtymguly predetermined the basis of Turkmenistan's foreign policy: his unshakable ideas about peace, justice, humanism, friendship and brotherhood, respect for everyone and everyone have a significant impact on interaction with other states," Serdar Berdimuhamedov said.

"The current event dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the great poet and thinker Magtymguly Fragi is of particular importance.  Today, the scale of the holiday in honor of the poet and philosopher of the Turkmen people has covered the entire world. Over the past centuries, the thoughts of Magtymguly Fragi, imbued with wisdom, have become a principle of life not only for our nation, but also for representatives of other nations,” Serdar Berdimuhamedov said.

The President recalled that “the collection of Magtymguly Fragi’s manuscripts is included in the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Memory of the World Program, and the poet’s 300th anniversary is included in the List of memorable dates celebrated jointly with UNESCO. All this fully demonstrates deep respect for the memory of the outstanding master of artistic words.”

“At the same time, the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY) declared 2024 the Year of the great poet and thinker of the Turkic world – Magtymguly Fragi,” said Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

"In Turkmenistan, 2024 has been declared the year of the "Treasury of the Mind of Magtymguly Fragi". Based on this, the National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has put forward an initiative to hold a grand celebration of the 300th anniversary of Magtymguly Fragi in order to widely popularize the poet's works, which have already become the property of all mankind," the President continued.

"The poet and thinker, who played an immeasurable role in shaping the character of our nation, comprehended the world: he visited many countries. His travels fundamentally influenced his worldview: it expanded and improved, which ultimately led to the mutual enrichment of cultures and knowledge between peoples," Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted.

"The legacy of Magtymguly Fragi is our great asset, and steadfast adherence to his precepts is our sacred duty.  Being committed to his instructions, we will continue to strengthen the unity and cohesion of the people, the sovereignty of the state, and also expand the ties of friendship and brotherhood, good neighborliness and mutually beneficial cooperation with other countries of the world,” the head of Turkmenistan emphasized.
