On July 31, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov received Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey Alparslan Bayraktar. During the meeting, the parties discussed a wide range of bilateral cooperation issues, paying special attention to the energy sector, TDH reports.

During the talks, Serdar Berdimuhamedov confirmed the high importance of energy cooperation for strengthening bilateral relations. The priorities of interaction between the two countries in the gas, gas chemical and electric power industries were determined. The parties expressed their readiness to actively implement joint projects.

In particular, the possibilities of supplying Turkmen natural gas to Turkey, as well as the participation of Turkish companies in the development of the Turkmen oil and gas chemical industry were discussed.

A promising area of cooperation is also the export of electricity from Turkmenistan to Turkey. The parties discussed the possibility of exporting electricity from a new Turkmen power plant with a capacity of 1,574 megawatts, which is being built on the Turkmen coast of the Caspian Sea.

In addition, issues of cooperation with Turkish companies in the field of extraction and processing of mineral resources of Turkmenistan, such as potassium salt, iodine and metal ores, creation of modern high-tech and export-oriented industries in Turkmenistan were discussed.

In order to further develop international energy cooperation, Turkmenistan is pursuing a fruitful partnership with the world's leading energy companies. This is evidenced by the recent meetings and negotiations in the oil and gas complex of Turkmenistan with representatives of companies from the UAE, the Republic of Korea and other countries, during which issues of expanding gas export routes, investing in new fields and joint implementation of innovative projects were discussed.

The meetings and negotiations continued with the visit of the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of the Republic of Turkey Alparslan Bayraktar to Turkmenistan on July 30-31 this year.
