Antonio Guterres is on a visit to Turkmenistan

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres arrived on a visit to the Turkmen capital on July 5, TDH reports.

At the Ashgabat International Airport, decorated with the flags of the UN and Turkmenistan, the organizer of the deposits of the authoritative international organization was the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Hero-Arkadag Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

A conversation between the Head of the UN and the Hero-Arkadag took place in the Hall of Delegation Relations.

Noting with satisfaction that the strategic partnership covered a wide range of areas – the socioeconomic and legal spheres, the humanitarian sphere, education, healthcare, ecology and a number of others, the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty and the Head of the UN confirmed their readiness to progressively build up effective relations.

The main point of the program of the stay of the distinguished guest in Turkmenistan will be the official meeting of the heads of the international banking structure and President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, which will take place today, July 6, in the morning. The agenda for negotiations in a narrow and extended format will include a wide range of issues of bilateral and international cooperation of mutual interest. 

A meeting between UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres and the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov is also planned. An exchange of views on the prospects for interaction between Turkmenistan and the UN and on current topics of independence and an anti-terrorist state is expected to take place. 

During his visit to Ashgabat, Antonio Guterres will visit the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia and the UN Representative Office. The head of the reputable international organization will also take part in the celebrations marking the opening of the Mirap building, which will be transferred to the UN Office in Turkmenistan.
