The member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States intend to develop a strategy for the development of the fuel and energy complex until 2035. BELTA reports this with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Energy of Belarus.
Issues of interaction in the energy industry in the Commonwealth were discussed during the 64th meeting of the CIS Electric Power Council, which was held as part of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
The concept of cooperation in the energy sector until 2035 was approved during the meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the CIS countries held on May 24 in Ashgabat.
According to the Minister of Energy of Belarus Viktor Karankevich, it is also planned to develop a Concept of cooperation between the CIS countries in the field of ensuring regional energy security.
At the 64th meeting of the Electric Power Council of the Commonwealth, participants reviewed current trends in the development of the energy industry and the potential for partnership in the energy sector in the CIS, discussed the possibilities for the development of nuclear energy and its role in the implementation of climate obligations.
The parties expressed their readiness to join forces to create the necessary power grid infrastructure.
