On May 9, at the invitation of the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, as an honorary guest, the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, participated in the solemn events marking the 79th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945, as reported by TDH.

At the appointed time, the presidential motorcade arrived at the Kremlin. Here, the head of Turkmenistan was warmly welcomed by the Russian leader. From the Kremlin, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, along with other high-ranking guests – heads of delegations who came to Moscow to participate in the festive events, proceeded to the Central Tribune on Red Square for the solemn military parade.

Following the military parade, as per a good tradition, the heads of states participating in the celebrations for this significant date walked to the Alexander Garden, located along the Kremlin wall, where a flower-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier took place.

The President of Turkmenistan, paying tribute and respect to the heroes who stood up to protect the peaceful life and freedom of all humanity and fell in battle against fascism in the fields of the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945, laid crimson roses at the Eternal Flame.

After the solemn events, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov proceeded to the Vnukovo-2 airport, from where he flew back to Ashgabat. After some time, the state leader's plane landed at the capital's International Airport, where the President of Turkmenistan was met by official representatives.

This holiday is especially dear to all. Victory in the Great Patriotic War required unimaginable efforts and perseverance, unshakeable spirit and unity from all brotherly peoples. Along with other fraternal nations, the courageous people of Turkmenistan bravely endured severe trials during the war years, demonstrating the highest moral qualities, examples of bravery, valor, heroism, and patriotism in the bloody battle for peace, tranquility, and a prosperous life on earth.

The military feat and courage of heroic ancestors are inscribed in golden letters in the glorious history of our Motherland. During the harsh war years, more than 265,000 brave Turkmen fought on the front. Many of them were awarded combat orders and medals for their displayed heroism. 104 warriors were honored with the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union, and 19 front-line soldiers became full Cavaliers of the Order of Glory.

Among the WWII participants is the grandfather of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, the great-grandfather of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov – Berdymuhamed Annayev, whose life path is a worthy example of faithful service to the country and people.

The memory of the heroes' feat will always live in our hearts, further uniting the brotherly peoples, and will serve as a reliable foundation for strengthening interstate relations.
