At the end of the first quarter, Turkmenistan’s GDP growth amounted to 6.3%

The results of the work done in the first quarter of this year demonstrate the successful implementation of the adopted programs. During the reporting period, there was a steady growth of GDP, amounting to 6.3%. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov said this at a government meeting held on April 6 via the digital system.

The President noted that this figure in the industrial sector reached 4.7%, in the transport and communications sector - 6.6%, in the services sector - 7.6 percent, in trade - 8.2%, in agriculture - 4.1%. Wages increased by 10%.

The country is building large industrial and social facilities, including new villages, residential buildings, entertainment and medical centers, schools, kindergartens and other facilities, Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized.

During the government meeting, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Hojamyrat Geldimyradov reported on macroeconomic indicators for the first quarter of 2024.

The Vice-Chairman noted that in general, the volume of production compared to the same period in 2023 is 8.8% more. In January–March of this year, the retail trade turnover indicator increased by 11% compared to the same period last year.

The revenue side of the state budget of the country for the first quarter was fulfilled at the level of 102.9%, and the expenditure part - 97.6%.

The volume of capital investments aimed at developing the national economy through all sources of financing increased by 25.3% compared to the same period in 2023, the Vice-Chairman added.

After listening to the report, Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that based on the successes achieved over three months, in the future it is necessary to ensure the stability of GDP growth, as well as take appropriate measures for the further development of manufacturing industries.

The President also emphasized the need to carry out work to fully implement the State Budget revenue plan and keep under strict control the rational and targeted spending of budget funds.

Particular attention should be paid to the consistent improvement of the activities of the economic, financial and banking complex, the President of Turkmenistan emphasized.
