The international roadshow to attract foreign investment in the energy sector of Turkmenistan will be held on April 26-27, 2023 in Dubai, UAE.  The main organizers of the Roadshow are the State Concerns "Turkmengas" and "Turkmennebit", as well as the State Corporation "Turkmengeology" in partnership with the ES "Turkmen Forum" with the support of the British company GaffneyCline.

The purpose of the upcoming event, which will be held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, is to expand opportunities for attracting foreign direct investment in all areas of the energy sector of Turkmenistan and to strengthen regional dialogue on the further sustainable development of the energy sector.  In addition, during the Roadshow, opportunities directly related to the extraction, transportation and processing of oil and gas will be considered.

The upcoming road show will bring together leading national and international energy companies, as well as experts who shape the future of the oil and gas industry not only in Turkmenistan, but in the region as a whole.

Turkmenistan is the largest player in the Asian oil and gas market.  The country's hydrocarbon resources are estimated at more than 71 billion tons of oil equivalent, which is more than 20 billion tons of oil and more than 50 trillion cubic meters of natural gas.  According to these data, Turkmenistan ranks fourth in the world in terms of proven natural gas reserves after Russia, Iran and Qatar.

Currently, the largest consumer of natural gas in Turkmenistan is the People's Republic of China.  To date, Turkmenistan supplies China with more than 30 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year through three lines (A, B and C) of the Central Asian gas pipeline system, and after the completion of the construction of the fourth line D, the annual supply of Turkmen natural gas will reach the contractual 65 billion cubic meters.  Turkmenistan also supplies gas to Russia and through swap operations to Azerbaijan through Iran.

Despite the impact of COVID-19 and the turmoil in global energy markets, Turkmenistan and its partners continue to support the implementation of the mega-project to build the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline.  At present, the linear part of the Turkmen section of the TAPI pipeline is being put into operation.

Turkmenistan is actively developing its fields on the shelf of the Caspian Sea and onshore in the Balkan region.  Currently, a number of leading oil companies, including ENI, Dragon Oil, Petronas and others, are engaged in oil and gas production in the contract areas in the Caspian Sea.

The focus of the upcoming Roadshow will be on attracting investment in offshore blocks, optimizing production at mature fields and developing the next phase of the massive Galkynysh field, which has the second largest gas reserves in the world.

In addition to attracting investment in the energy sector of Turkmenistan, the International Roadshow program focuses on topics such as the future of energy;  energy of a new era: prospects for domestic and regional development;  environmental aspects of hydrocarbon development, etc.

For those unable to attend the Dubai event in person, a live stream will be organized via the Zoom platform.  Meetings on the sidelines of the Roadshow with the top leadership of the oil and gas sector of Turkmenistan will also be available both in person and online, according to the website of the organizers.
