In 2021, the volume of gas purchased by Gazprom from Turkmenistan is likely to double and amount to about 10 billion cubic meters. This was stated on Friday by the Russian Ambassador to Turkmenistan Alexander Blokhin at a press conference at the embassy dedicated to the annual results of the Turkmen-Russian cooperation.
The diplomat noted that the volume of gas this year, which Russia buys from Turkmenistan, will be very substantial.
- Compared to last year, it is likely to double. I think about 10 billion cubic meters, the ambassador said.
Regarding the supply of Turkmen gas next year, Blokhin said, this is the subject of negotiations between Gazprom and Turkmengas.
In July 2019, Gazprom and the State Concern «Turkmengas» signed a contract for the purchase of natural gas for a period of five years - until June 30, 2024. The contract stipulates that the volume of gas supplies to Gazprom will amount to 5.5 billion cubic meters per year.
