 Prospects for cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation were discussed last Friday at a meeting between Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports.

 The talks were held in Kazan within the framework of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council, in the work of which the delegation of Turkmenistan took part at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin as a guest of honor.

 Among the priority areas of the Turkmen-Tatarstan partnership are the supply of automotive technology and equipment, aircraft construction, shipbuilding, maintenance services, etc. Productive contacts have been established with PJSC KAMAZ, PJSC Tatneft, JSC Kazan Helicopter Plant, JSC Shipbuilding Corporation «Ak  Bars».

 At the same time, they emphasized the presence of a solid potential for the further development of mutually beneficial cooperation in various spheres of the economy, and an increase in the volume of mutual trade.

 As President Rustam Minnikhanov stated, Turkmenistan was a strategic partner for Tatarstan.

 At the end of the meeting, Rustam Minnikhanov presented Serdar Berdimuhamedov with the medal «100 years of formation of the Tatar Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic», which was a state award of the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation.

 As part of their stay in Kazan, members of the Turkmen delegation held bilateral meetings with Russian colleagues, including those from Tatarstan. The subject of discussion was the prospects for interaction in the trade, economic and banking spheres, the oil and gas sector, agriculture, in the field of air and water transport, along the line of business structures.

 As «Tatar-inform» with reference to the press service of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan noted, during the meeting it was emphasized that by the end of 2020, the foreign trade turnover between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation reached $107 million USD.
