Turkish Ambassador Şener Cebeci stated that Ankara is ready to work with Turkmenistan and other partners to develop viable routes for transporting Turkmen gas to Türkiye and subsequently to European and other international markets, Turkmenportal reports.
The diplomat said this on October 29 during a reception at the Embassy of Türkiye to Ashgabat, held to mark the 103rd anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic of Türkiye.
In his address, the Ambassador placed particular emphasis on the energy and transport sectors. He highlighted the commencement of Turkmen natural gas supplies to Türkiye last year as a significant milestone and expressed confidence in the potential to resume mutually beneficial energy trade.
According to Cebeci, Türkiye is ready to cooperate with Turkmenistan and other partners to establish feasible routes for delivering Turkmen gas to Türkiye and onward to European and other global markets. He also underscored the importance of cooperation within the framework of the Trans-Caspian Middle Corridor.
The Ambassador further noted that Türkiye remains one of Turkmenistan’s primary economic partners, with an objective to reach a trade turnover target of 5 billion US dollars – a goal established by the Presidents of the two countries.
He stated that Turkish companies have completed over 1,100 projects with a total value of approximately 56 billion US dollars, encompassing facilities such as hospitals, schools and industrial complexes. The diplomat also reminded that the 9th meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkish-Turkmen Economic Commission took place in Ashgabat this June, resulting in the signing of a 71-point Joint Action Plan.
Additionally, Cebeci announced that Turkmenistan has confirmed its readiness to participate in the UN Climate Change Conference (COP31), which Türkiye will host in Antalya this November.
