The state visit of the President of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Korea begins

On September 14, the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov arrived in the Republic of Korea for a state visit, during which he will also participate in the inaugural Central Asia – Republic of Korea Summit, TDH reports.

As noted, the Turkmen-Korean relations have recently gained new momentum and are being built upon the principles of strategic partnership. In recent years, regular high-level contacts have fostered the dynamic and constructive interstate cooperation.

The current state visit of Serdar Berdimuhamedov is expected to open a new chapter in the multifaceted cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea.

Trade and economic relations constitute a priority area of this interstate partnership. A significant role is played by cooperation with major Korean companies, long-standing partners of Turkmenistan. With their participation, large-scale joint projects are being successfully implemented in the country’s oil and gas, petrochemical and gas chemical sectors. This facilitates the exchange of expertise and the widespread adoption of advanced technologies within the national economy.

The transport and logistics sector has also been identified as a key area of the bilateral cooperation. Taking a favourable geographic position at the crossroads of Eurasian transport routes, Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea are coordinating their efforts to establish transit corridors.

The two countries also cooperate actively in the environmental sphere, placing special emphasis on the use of advanced “green” technologies, the fight against climate change and the sustainable management of water resources.
