The Japanese company is interested in expanding cooperation between Japan and Turkmenistan in the fuel and energy sector

On August 30, a meeting between delegations, led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of our country Rashid Meredov and his Japanese counterpart Toshimitsu Motegi, who was in Ashgabat on a visit, took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, according to the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

During the meeting, it was emphasized that regular contacts at the highest and high levels provide the main impetus for the development of the interstate relations. In this context, the significance of the visits to Japan by the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty and the President of Turkmenistan was particularly noted.

During the discussion of trade and economic cooperation, the effectiveness of partnerships in the gas chemical industry, electric power and transport were particularly noted. Advanced technologies and artificial intelligence were identified as promising areas of cooperation.

The Japanese side expressed interest in implementing projects aimed at further diversifying the Turkmen economy. In this regard, the successful participation of Japanese companies, including Sumitomo Corporation, Toyo Engineering Corporation, Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd., ITOCHU Corporation, and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd., in the construction of industrial complexes in Turkmenistan was highlighted.

In this regard, the parties discussed preparations for a joint meeting of the Turkmen-Japanese and Japanese-Turkmen Committees on Economic Cooperation, scheduled for this year in Tokyo.

Following the talks, a Cooperation Program was signed between the Foreign Ministries of Turkmenistan and Japan for 2027–2029.
