Scientists from Perm National Research Polytechnic University, together with their colleagues from China, have developed special capsules for delivering chemicals into deep oil wells. Their innovative solution will help improve the efficiency and reduce the costs of extracting hard-to-recover oil.
Traditionally, such capsules are made of plastic; however, they cannot withstand high temperatures and pressures and soften, releasing the chemicals prematurely.
The new development is made of geopolymer ceramics, obtained from clay raw materials, and metallurgical waste, according to the Turkmenistan International Information Center.
