President of Turkmenistan instructed to study the possibilities of transit of energy resources to the countries of the Middle and Near East

The possibilities of expanding the directions of export of natural gas and electricity from Turkmenistan were discussed at a working meeting held via video link on Tuesday by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov with the participation of Vice-Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers of our country, the State News Agency of the country reports.
During the meeting, Vice-Chairman Sh. Abdrakhmanov reported on the state of affairs in the fuel and energy sector of the country, carried out, in accordance with the instruction of the head of state, on the comprehensive work to develop the industry through diversification, in particular, to increase the volume of exports of hydrocarbon resources.
Vice-Chairman Ch. Purchekov reported on the fulfillment of the instructions given by the President to increase the volume of electricity supplies abroad and open new export routes.
Vice-Chairman, Minister of Foreign Affairs R.Meredov, having reported on the great attention of the world community to Turkmenistan, which has a favorable geographical location, reported on the ongoing work to intensify international cooperation, in particular, the development of mutually beneficial relations and negotiations in this direction.
Noting the growing interest in the world to the hydrocarbon and energy resources of our country, including natural gas and electricity, the Turkmen leader stressed the need to focus on the activities of key sectors of the economy, introduce innovations in it, as well as intensify international cooperation. The Vice-Chairman was given specific instructions on this matter.
Addressing Vice-Chairman Sh. Abdrakhmanov, the head of state ordered to comprehensively study the issues of transit supplies of Turkmen natural gas to the countries of the Middle and Near East through the territory of neighboring countries.
The President also instructed Vice-Chairman Ch. Purchekov to hold talks with interested parties on the transit of electricity produced in our country through the territory of neighboring states.
As noted, these issues should be on the agenda of intergovernmental commissions.
The President also gave instructions to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan on the organization of negotiation processes of bilateral and multilateral format, taking into account the interests of producers, transit countries and consumers of energy resources.

Over 500 billion cubic meters of natural gas have been delivered to China over the more than 14 years of operation of the Central Asia-China gas pipeline, Xinhua news agency reported, citing the West Pipeline Company of the Chinese corporation PipeChina. This volume of energy is equivalent to the use of 666 million tons of coal, which has reduced carbon dioxide emissions by 731 million tons.
