Specialists from the International Science and Technology Park of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan have developed an innovative next-generation bioproduct intended to effectively neutralize methane emissions in soil, Turkmenistan: Golden Age reports.
The project was implemented by a research team led by the Corresponding Member of the Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Chemistry Durdymyrat Gadamov and the Head of the Biotechnology Laboratory Altyn Rahmanova.
The domestic development is based on natural mechanisms using locally native strains of methane-oxidizing bacteria, which are adapted to the region’s climatic conditions and capable of converting methane into environmentally safe water and carbon dioxide. The new product is environmentally safe, affordable and independent of foreign analogues thanks to the use of local raw materials.
The development by Turkmen scientists has become a practical contribution to the implementation of the state’s environmental strategy aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions, fulfilling international obligations under the Global Methane Pledge and implementing advanced environmental control standards in key economic sectors.
