Hero of Turkmenistan, Honorary Elder of the people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov is officially recognized as the national leader Turkmen people. The Constitutional Law of Turkmenistan “On the National Leader of the Turkmen People” was adopted following the results of the joint meeting of Milli Gengesh chambers held on Saturday in Ashgabat and representatives of the public.

 According to the constitutional law, the national leader of the Turkmen people has a permanent right: to address the people of Turkmenistan on important issues of the state structure of Turkmenistan, domestic and foreign policy and security of the country, programs for the socio-economic development of the country, to take the initiative, which is mandatory for consideration government agencies and officials. The national leader can also participate in considering important issues at meetings of the Mejlis, meetings and congresses of political parties, public associations with instructive instructions, as well as with political and public appeals providing for the provision of the state power of Turkmenistan.

The national leader of the Turkmen people and members of his family have the right of immunity. The right of inviolability also refers to his property and property owned by family members.
