In 2019, more than 47.9 billion cubic meters of natural gas was delivered to China via the transnational Central Asia - China gas pipeline, Xinhua news Agency reported, citing data from the PetroChina West Pipeline Company.
In 2018, the volume of gas exports from Central Asian countries to China amounted to 47.49 billion cubic meters, most of which is accounted for by Turkmen natural gas.
The Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan-China gas pipeline was commissioned in December 2009. Since the beginning of its operation, more than 300 billion cubic meters of natural gas have been exported to China. Of this volume, more than 80% of gas supplies to China were provided by Turkmenistan.
In accordance with intergovernmental agreements, after the commissioning of the fourth branch (line D) of the Central Asia-China gas pipeline, the supply of natural gas from Turkmenistan to China alone will increase to 65 billion cubic meters per year.
