Turkmen-Uzbek high-level talks begin in Tashkent

High-level talks between President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who arrived today on a two-day working visit to Uzbekistan, have begun at the “Kuksaroy” Palace in Tashkent. The negotiations are attended by members of the delegations of the two countries.

As noted, relations between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan are developing dynamically, covering all relevant areas of political, trade, economic and humanitarian cooperation. The two countries have developed a solid legal framework for cooperation, in accordance with which political consultations and contacts at the level of ministries and departments are actively carried out.


The sides also noted the fruitful work of the joint Turkmen-Uzbek Commission on trade, economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation, the last meeting of which was held on November 23, 2019 in Ashgabat.


Regular meetings at the highest level, which give additional impetus to the Turkmen-Uzbek cooperation, are called defining events.


The agenda of the current high-level talks includes a wide range of issues of cooperation in politics, economy, trade, cultural and humanitarian sphere.


During the visit, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov will also take part in the second consultative meeting of the heads of Central Asian States.
