Due to the building-up of capacities of oil and gas fields, Kazakhstan considers the possibility of transportation of the energy resources into the territory of Azerbaijan. The Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan Kanat Bozumbayev told the about it on Thursday at a briefing following the results of the 14th meeting of the Intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation.
"Today we signed the protocol and the road map on development of the bilateral relations, creation of two working groups is provided. The first worker shall study a possibility of transit of the Kazakhstan oil across the Azerbaijani territory, competitiveness of this route and also to work pipeline opportunities of Azerbaijan for acceptance of the Kazakhstan oil", - the minister noted.
Bozumbayev also emphasized that the Kazakhstan oil is delivered to several the direction today, the Caspian Pipeline Consortium is major of them, and that the working group should work up the new direction of oil transportation through the territory of Azerbaijan which shall be competitive, in comparison with other routes .
"We deliver, oil to China, to the countries of the basin of the Black Sea and also by the Atyrau-Samara oil pipeline to Finland", - Bozumbayev told, having added that, in connection with the accruing oil extraction amounts in 3-4 years Kazakhstan will need a new way of oil supply to the world market, and transit of oil through Azerbaijan is perspective option for implementation of this purpose.
The minister also reminded that last year in Kazakhstan one of the world largest fields Kashagan which capacity is planned to be increased by one and a half times in 2018 was put into operation. "Also we plan to increase capacity of the Tengiz oil field", - Bozumbayev told.
Concerning gas production the minister told that every year his production grows and that this year Kazakhstan started gas export to China.
"This year we extracted about 50 billion cubic meters of gas from which 30 percent were directed to the domestic market, and the rest goes for export or downloads back in layer for maintenance of intra reservoir pressure. Work with our Russian partners – the Gazprom company - also continues", – Bozumbayev told.
According to the minister, Kazakhstan is also interested in transit of gas across the territory of Azerbaijan in case of acceptable conditions.
