On Wednesday the minister of ecological transformations of France Nikola Yulo provided the bill providing refusal of development of gas and oil fields. The bill affects hydrocarbon production both in the territory of continental France, and in all its overseas territories, Kommersant writes.
It is supposed that the authorities will cease to issue permissions to development of new fields, and those already issued will stop the action by 2040. Then France will completely refuse oil and gas extraction.
The present bill is a part of strategy of ecological development of France which was provided by the minister Yulo in July. Then he announced the end of the era of diesel and petrol automobile engines in the country which shall disappear by 2040. The bill provided by the minister will forbid at first researches, and then and development of all oil and gas fields in France. And it is both about the metropole, and about projects in the sea and in the overseas territories. Of course, nobody will cancel or freeze already issued permissions and the existing projects, the Businessman notes.
But by 2040 production will be stopped owing to the fact that present permissions to development of fields will not be prolonged, and the new authorities are not going to issue.
