The SOCAR state company plans to increase natural gas production in the next years, the president of the company Rovnag Abdullaev told in an interview to Reuters agency, Trend reports.
According to him, in the next years several gas fields which will allow to provide necessary growth will be put into operation.
"We aim to receive 1,5 billion cubic meters of gas from the first stage of implementation of the gas field Absheron in 2019 and five billion more cubic meters in 2022-2023 from the second stage of implementation. Along with it in the next 3-5 years we plan to build two platforms on the Umid field for drilling of at least eight highly productive wells", - Abdullaev told.
The president of SOCAR added that the company also plans to begin prospecting drilling on the gas field Babek.
"Development of these projects will allow us to increase sales of gas both within the country, and abroad", - Abdullaev noted.
In the first half of the year 2017 of SOCAR at the expense of own means extracted on offshore and onshore fields of the country 2,95 billion cubic meters of gas against 3,16 billion cubic meters extracted for the same period of last year.
In addition to own production, SOCAR also receives gas from Shah Deniz and Azeri-Chirag-Gyuneshli fields (passing), developing these areas together with foreign partners. Total amount of the extracted gas from the contractual and developed independently fields for the accounting period made 14,13 billion cubic meters against 14,94 billion cubic meters extracted in January-June, 2016.
