Turkmenistan celebrated the 74th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. On the morning of May 9, at the Memorial Complex “Halk hakydasy” (People’s Memory), the citizens of Turkmenistan paid tribute to all the defenders of the Motherland who had fallen in World War II.
At the foot of the monument “Baky şöhrat” (Eternal Glory) a wreath was laid by President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. Paying tribute to the heroes who fell in the war of 1941-1945, the leaders of the military and law enforcement agencies, deputies of the Mejlis, representatives of public organizations and labor collectives, as well as residents and guests of the capital, laid flowers to the monument.
Those gathered in silence honored the memory of the glorious sons of the Turkmen people, all those who, with their courage and steadfastness on the battlefields and labor exploits in the rear, brought the victory over fascism closer.
During the severe war years, thousands of Turkmen soldiers, together with representatives of fraternal peoples, fought on the fronts, displaying unparalleled courage and heroism. Among them, Berdimuhamed Annayev - grandfather of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
On the same day, a festive concert was held at the Central House of Officers of the Ministry of Defense of Turkmenistan for veterans-front-line soldiers, at which the creative teams of servicemen performed patriotic musical and literary compositions.
Festive celebrations on May 9 were held throughout the country. Residents of cities and villages laid bouquets of flowers to the monuments erected in honor of the national heroes who died the death of the brave in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.
Ensuring a decent life for war veterans is one of the top priorities of the state policy of Turkmenistan. Thanks to numerous privileges for front-line soldiers, workers of the rear and soldier's widows, all conditions have been created for their decent life. Annually, in honor of the Great Victory, veterans of the war, as well as widows of fallen warriors, in a solemn ceremony are awarded valuable gifts.
