Today, the whole world faces complex problems that no country alone can solve, - - said President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, speaking at a government meeting summarizing the country's socio-economic development for the first quarter of 2019.
- The constructive initiatives put forward by Turkmenistan contribute to the consolidated actions of many states in solving them, strengthen broad international cooperation and support efforts aimed at overcoming the global crisis and regional conflicts, - the President continued.
- Despite external problems, the results of the first quarter in the whole country show that our country's economy continues to develop within the framework of the programs envisaged, - the Turkmen leader stated.
In particular, the head of the state said that the growth rate of GDP since the beginning of the year has been steadily at 6.2 percent. In comparison with the same period last year, as a result of the implementation of the program for the production of import-substituting products, it was possible to increase the volume of exports of domestic goods to other countries by 20.7 percent. The volume of imported products decreased by almost 27 percent. In the same period, wages were increased by 9.4 percent.
The President of Turkmenistan said:
- We managed to achieve such results thanks to the work done on the systematic privatization of state property, a radical change in the norms and approaches to the management system. Due to the introduction of modern international management standards, we managed to reduce the public sector in the economy to economically and strategically justified volumes.
In addition, the country has created a favorable investment climate, a clear legal framework that guarantees the protection of the rights and interests of foreign investors. For enterprises with foreign investments, there is a system of benefits and preferences, said G. Berdimuhamedov.
Currently, the President noted, the construction of large industrial and social facilities continues in Turkmenistan. In accordance with the adopted plans, the reforms in the field of science and education are also continuing, the work on the modernization of the production sector is progressing successfully. Formed a market economy. Oil and gas fields are being developed, the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline is being built, and other international projects are being prepared.
- In our country, the construction of large industrial complexes will continue in the future, - the head of the state stated. - Other important projects are also studied with a focus on the application of scientific and technical achievements. The policy on support and development of private business is consistently implemented, entrepreneurs are widely involved in the implementation of economic reforms.
The President also noted that the IMF delegation that visited our country recently confirmed the correctness of the transformation course chosen by Turkmenistan and highly appreciated our achievements.
