The extended meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers held on April 12 summed up the socio-economic development of Turkmenistan for the first quarter of 2019, and also discussed the priority tasks for implementing the outlined plans for the development of the national economy, including oil and gas enterprises. In particular, Vice chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Myratgeldi Meredov reported on the progress of the implementation of the Program for the development of the oil and gas industry of Turkmenistan until 2030 and the results of work for enterprises of the fuel and energy complex during the reporting period.
As noted, the plan for oil and gas condensate production was fulfilled by 100.1 percent, natural and associated gas - by 103 percent, oil refining - by 108.1 percent, gasoline production - by 101.5 percent, diesel fuel - by 102 , 6 percent, polypropylene - 100 percent, lubricating oils - 101.6 percent, liquefied gas - 117.1 percent. The growth rate of utilized investments was 105.7 percent. Expressing dissatisfaction with the work of the oil and gas complex, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov made a number of comments on this issue, emphasizing the fact that the latest technologies of deep oil refining are slowly being introduced. For the shortcomings made in the w ork, the head of state dismissed D. Hajiyev, chairman of the State Concern “Türkmennebit”, from his post. The temporary performance of the duties of the head of the State Concern is entrusted to the vice chairman D. Orazov.
After voicing the decisions taken, the President of Turkmenistan signed the relevant documents. Addressing vice prime Minister M. Meredov and heads of the FEC, the head of state indicated that additional opportunities should be identified to improve the efficiency of the industry’s enterprises and eliminate the existing shortcomings, by raising investments, to increase oil production. The President ordered to continue work to diversify the supply of Turkmen energy resources to world markets, to accelerate the implementation of the TAPI gas pipeline construction project.
It is necessary to actively introduce into the production modern technologies of oil and gas processing, the President said, stressing the importance of the state programs adopted in the country for the production of import-substituting products and increasing the volume of exports of domestic goods and strengthening the pace of work in this area. The head of state also instructed to thoroughly prepare for the opening ceremony of the gas chemical complex for processing natural gas and producing gasoline under construction in Akhal region.
