Uzbekistan is committed to further strengthening strategic partnership with Turkmenistan - Shavkat Mirziyoyev

Uzbekistan is committed to further strengthening its strategic partnership with Turkmenistan. This is stated in the message of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev addressed to the head of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

I am sure that the further strengthening of the Uzbek-Turkmen strategic partnership, the expansion of multifaceted and mutually beneficial cooperation in the political, trade, economic, transport, communication, cultural and humanitarian spheres fully meets the interests of the peoples of our countries, the common goals of ensuring peace, stability and sustainable development in the Central Asian region, Mirziyoyev's letter says.

As you know, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, which have impressive reserves of hydrocarbon resources, are in favor of diversification of energy flows. Among the implemented projects is the construction of the Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan - Kazakhstan –China gas pipeline, put into operation in December 2009.

Earlier, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov previously invited the business community of Uzbekistan to participate in the construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline, as well as in the development of oil and gas fields on the Turkmen shelf of the Caspian sea.
