At the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers held last Friday, the results of socio-economic development of the country for the eight months of this year were discussed. In particular, the state of affairs and results of work of the enterprises of oil and gas complex of Turkmenistan were considered.
During the meeting, Vice-Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers M. Meredov reported on the results of the supervised sector for January-August 2018. In particular, it was reported that the plan for the production of oil and gas condensate was completed by 100.8 percent, oil refining – by 103.6 percent, natural gas exports – by 101.1 percent. Compared to the same period last year, the growth rate of gasoline production was 102.3 percent, diesel fuel – 100.3 percent, polypropylene – 101.9 percent, disbursed investment -120.4 percent.
Information was also given on the progress of the construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline, which is under way in accordance with the plan.
After hearing the report, the President focused on the implementation of the "Program of development of the oil and gas industry of Turkmenistan for the period up to 2030", designed to ensure the most efficient use of hydrocarbon resources for sustainable growth of the national economy, strengthening its export potential.
The head of the state demanded once again to carefully analyze the state of affairs in the structural units of the fuel and energy complex and to ensure the optimal use of existing reserves to increase the volume of oil and gas production and processing. Specific instructions were given to the Vice-Chairman regarding the further diversification of the oil and gas industry, the creation of new production facilities for the production of oil and gas products in demand on the world markets.
The President also noted the international importance of the TAPI project in the formation of global energy security, strengthening trade and economic ties between the States of the region, ordering to keep under constant control the progress of the construction of the gas pipeline.
Pointing to the shortcomings in the oil and gas sector, the head of state announced reprimands to the Vice-Chairman and heads of industry state concern. In particular, the order of the President for improper performance of official duties, failure to perform state tasks to Vice-Prime Minister M. Meredov declared a strict reprimand. With similar wording declared strict reprimand to the Chairman of the SC "Turkmennebit" D. Hadjieva and reprimand the Chairman of the State Concern "Turkmengas" M. Archive.
The head of the state demanded to intensify the reforms carried out in the industry and to take concrete measures to establish the effective operation of the domestic fuel and energy complex in the shortest possible time.
