On Wednesday afternoon, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov arrived on an official visit to the United Arab Emirates after completing the talks in Kuwait. On the same day, the head of state held meetings with the leaders of the UAE government, the state news Agency of Turkmenistan reports.
In particular, during the meeting with the Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE, ruler of the Emirate of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid al Maktoum, the sides exchanged views on the prospects for further strengthening of interstate relations based on the principles of mutual respect, as well as on some international and regional issues.
As noted, there is an impressive potential for long-term mutually beneficial partnership in the trade and economic sphere, the implementation of which will have a positive impact on the development of national, regional and global economies.
Noting that the next stage of construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline was recently launched, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov invited major oil and gas companies, financial and investment structures of the UAE to cooperate in this direction.
Export-import potential of the two countries create favorable conditions for increasing bilateral trade. An important role in this respect plays the regular holding of bilateral consultations, economic exhibitions.
On the same day Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met with Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister, managing Director of the President of the UAE Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed al Nahyan, during which the parties exchanged views on a wide range of issues of the Turkmen-UAE partnership, specified approaches to the implementation of effective cooperation in various fields. In this context, a mutual interest was expressed in further developing a fruitful partnership on a long-term and equitable basis.
Referring to the recent launch of the next stage of the TAPI gas pipeline construction, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov invited representatives of the UAE business community to cooperate in the implementation of this project.
In order to increase the volume of trade turnover and strengthen economic ties, it was suggested that bilateral consultations, business forums, thematic exhibitions should be held on a regular basis.
Today, the Turkmen-Emirate talks will be held in Abu Dhabi, on the agenda of which a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation in the political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres are put on the agenda. Following their results, it is planned to sign a package of documents designed to further strengthen and expand the regulatory framework of interstate relations, to fill the multifaceted partnership with new practical content.
Powerful incentives for the development of the Turkmen-UAE dialogue, enlargement of trade-economic relations stressed the activities of the Joint cooperation Committee, a regular meeting of which took place in December 2017 in Ashgabat and resulted in specific agreements on cooperation in trade-economic, oil and gas, energy, agriculture, transport, communication and other key sectors, in particular, signed a Memorandum of understanding on cooperation between the Government of Turkmenistan and the Development Fund of Abu Dhabi.
The growing interest of the UAE business community in our country is due to the fact that today Turkmenistan's economy is one of the fastest growing in the world, which is confirmed by such an authoritative financial structure as the international monetary Fund (IMF).
