In the next three months in Afghanistan work on realization of the gas pipeline of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) will begin, reported on Sunday the Afghan news agency TOLO news with reference to information of the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum (MoMP).
- According to the growing economic cooperation and interaction of Afghanistan with the countries of the region, it is expected that the beginning of project implementation of TAPI in the Afghan territory will start at a special ceremony, - the representative of MoMP Abdul Qadeer Mutfi told.
In October MoMP reported that the TAPI transnational gas pipeline which is under construction in Turkmenistan now will reach the Afghan border in Herat by January, 2018, reports the agency.
MoMP also reported that the Afghan government is completely ready to realize the project in the part of the country.
"We hope that implementation of the project will begin in the nearest future", - quotes the agency of a word of Abdul Qadeer Mufti.
It is noted that in Afghanistan the TAPI pipeline will be constructed through the Provinces of Herat, Farah, Helmand and Nimroz along the highway Kandahar-Herat in the western Afghanistan, and then through Quetta and Multan in Pakistan. The Indian city of Fazilka, near border between Pakistan and India will become a final destination of the pipeline.
As it was reported at the "Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan-2017" conference, the TAPI project moves ahead quickly enough. The leading consulting and law companies are involved in it. A number of export credit agencies of Europe and Asia show interest in participation in implementation of construction of the gas pipeline in the territory of Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Also at the forum it was reported about carrying out the international tenders for equipment procurement for the pipeline and the accompanying infrastructure, laying of the route in the territory of Afghanistan and Pakistan. The consortium has a full support from all host countries. Work on attraction of financing of the gas pipeline is conducted and already in the near future it is planned to begin construction works on the Afghan and Pakistani sites.
Design capacity of TAPI is 33 billion cubic meters of gas a year.
