In Ashgabat the Conference of regional economic cooperation on Afghanistan will take place on November 14-15

The vice-chairman of Cabinet council of the country, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Rasheed Meredov reported on preparation for carrying out on November 14-15, 2017 in Ashgabat of the 7th Regional Economic cooperation Conference on Afghanistan (RECCA VII) at a meeting of the Government last Thursday.

In particular, it was reported that for the successful solution of organizational and other matters in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan the special coordination commission was created. The draft of the agenda of the Conference which primary subject offers to determine development of communications and expansion of the economic relations was developed. During the two-day meeting discussion and exchange of opinions on the questions concerning implementation of the energy and transport and communication projects performed with the participation of Afghanistan, trade, private sector development and establishing business cooperation in the area of entrepreneurs will take place.

As expected, representatives of 35 countries of the world and 36 international organizations, including specialized structures of the UN will take part in work of the forum within which a number of additional actions is also planned.

At the meeting of the Government it was noted that Turkmenistan systematically gave full support in peaceful revival and recovery of social and economic infrastructure of Afghanistan, including by means of its involvement in implementation of large-scale economic projects.

Having heard the report, the President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that the relations between the Turkmen and Afghan people had deep roots and relied on vast experience of neighborliness and centuries-old historical and cultural community.

As the head of the state noted, supporting arrangement of a situation in Afghanistan by exclusively peaceful, political and diplomatic means, Turkmenistan rendered the efficient help in social and economic and cultural revival of the neighboring country, for this purpose making specific proposals and initiating large infrastructure projects of regional and global value. Among them were a construction of the gas pipeline of Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India, creation of transit and transport corridors, projects in the sphere of power industry.

Also it was reported that Turkmenistan delivered to Afghanistan the electric power and the liquefied gas on preferential price, built subjects of medical and educational appointment in the territory of a neighboring state, helped with training of qualified personnel on various specialties.

Having emphasized that Turkmenistan would give to Afghanistan the every possible help and support from now on, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov charged to R. Meredov to provide the high organizational level of preparation and holding the forthcoming RECCA VII.
