Priority issues of the Turkmen-Qatar relations were discussed during telephone conversation between the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Tani.
Having noted the high level of interstate dialogue, heads of Turkmenistan and Qatar emphasized presence of solid potential for further development of mutually beneficial cooperation and mutual readiness of the parties for its implementation.
During the conversation the parties discussed the prospects of Turkmen-Qatar partnership on its key directions in the context of implementation of earlier reached agreements and plans for the future. It was underlined that the important part in a bilateral cooperation was assigned to trade and economic relations.
The parties also exchanged opinions on a number of the topical issues of the regional and global agenda which were of mutual interest. In this regard the invariable commitment of two states to effective interaction within the authoritative international organizations and structures was noted.
As news agency notes, telephone conversation took place at the initiative of the Qatar side.
As earlier it was reported, during the official visit of the government delegation of Turkmenistan to Qatar in March, 2017 Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Tani at negotiations in Doha stated the interest in a goods turnover growth in volumes, establishing direct contacts between the government and financial structures, the large companies of two states.
Ashgabat declared determination to consider investment offers of Qatar on implementation of the largest projects of Turkmenistan having regional value and also offers on investments into innovative projects of Qatar.
The President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov invited large financial and investment structures of Qatar to participate in project implementation of the gas pipeline of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI).
The companies of Qatar were also invited to participate in a construction in the territory of our country of the plants on conversion of gas, the petroleum and gas-chemical chemical plants, in the projects realized on the Turkmen shelf of the Caspian Sea and also in supplies of equipment for the oil and gas complex.
One of the key directions of the Turkmen-Qatar relations designated a cooperation in the sphere of sea and air transport that would contribute to the development of the economic relations between the countries of Central Asia and the Middle East.
Following the results of negotiations in Doha the packet of bilateral documents was signed, among them were: the intergovernmental memorandum of understanding on development of a cooperation in the sphere of power and also the Memorandum of understanding between the Public national service of "Turkmenhovayollary" and Civil aviation authority of Qatar.
In April the delegation of Qatar led by the company executive of "Al Qamra Holding" Hamad Saleh Al Kamra arrived in Ashgabat. At a meeting in National bank of foreign economic activity of Turkmenistan the parties discussed opportunities and the prospects of participation of Qatar business in implementation of large investment projects in Turkmenistan. Among the main directions of cooperation fuel and energy complex, the transport and communication sphere, the chemical, medical industry, etc. were called.
Then specific discussion of joint projects at meetings of Qatar delegation in the government of Turkmenistan and a number of the industry ministries and departments of the country took place.
